Sound: Travis’ trademark soft rock – gentle, floating and cooing, but rhythmic, highly melodic and bittersweet. Plus, they make room for a track that’s bright and bouncy, one that’s dark and churning, and even one that’s stomping and swaggering.
Heavy Rotation track: “Selfish Jean”
Medium Rotation tracks: “Battleships”; “My Eyes”; “Colder”; “Big Chair”; “One Night”
Recommended: The Boy With No Name lacks the urgency and abundance of standout tracks that made 12 Memories (my #12 album of 2003) the band’s most exciting album. But it’s still a fine collection of gorgeous and memorable pop songs that occasionally rocks kinda hard.
